Cozy time with Grande
Grande came up to visit today and we had such a nice time. After a nice long nap, Lukas and Grande played for a bit. He was quite happy to be in her lap. There's nothing quite like grandma's lap, is there Lukas?

Twins
Jordi and Lukas are twins - they both weigh 15 lbs. 8 oz. I decided this called for an official photo to remember this milestone. Jordi would not leave poor Lukas alone and gave him a few too many kisses as I snapped the photos. At least Lukas is learning how to move his head away to avoid the slobber.

4 Months Old
Lukas had his 4 month appointment at the pediatrician today. He's gone from 93rd percentile to 95th percentile for height. Go Lukas - moving up in the world! Our pediatrician said we could start feeding Lukas rice cereal so we gave it a whirl today. Lukas loved it -- it only took him a few bites to figure out how to use the spoon. He also tried to reach into the bowl of rice cereal being the precocious little fellow he is. I took this photo after the rice cereal and was lucky enough to catch Lukas smiling in his sleep. Perhaps he was dreaming about solid foods...

I'm Cute!
Valentine's Day Hike
We celebrated Jordi's 3rd birthday, Lukas' 4 month birthday and our 13th Valentine's Day together by taking a trip to Auburn today. I had purchased a book of 60 hikes within 60 miles of Sacramento a while back and decided to just pick one. We had to descend down a 3-mile long dirt road in Andrew's handy 4x4 to get to the river and hiking trail but it was well worth it. Although it was very remote we were in good company with other hikers and horseback riders. The hiking trail ran for about a mile along the river and led to a beautiful waterfall called Codfish Falls. It was a beautiful sunny day and Lukas did pretty well considering he had to sit in a pack for 2 hours. We can't wait to go back for a swim this summer!

Silla Saltarina
Lukas and I set up his new jumperoo (silla saltarina) yesterday. His toes can't quite touch the ground yet but he does like sitting in it and playing with the toys. He also likes to look at the fishies overhead. There is also a little mirror for him to look at. This is a great way to entertain Lukas while we are cooking or eating!! The baby swing was getting a bit boring for our big boy...he will be 4 months old a week from today!

The boys and their new toy...
Andrew has been in the market for a new bike, one that is respectable enough for someone with a J.D. to ride to work. This one caught his eye on Sunday while we were in Davis. It is a one speed bike, perfect for the flat roads of Sacramento. The deal was sealed when he saw the red seat and the tool that it came with that can both remove the back tire AND open a bottle of beer. This bike may be Andrew's for now, but I have a feeling Lukas may inherit it during his high school and college years. Perhaps Lukas will go to Davis with this cool bike and meet the girl of his dreams like his daddy did...one can only hope!

Playing Tourist in San Francisco
Yesterday Lukas and I went to San Francisco to have lunch with Tara. The whole time I've been on maternity leave I've wanted to go on a little field trip to SF with the Lukeman. And I finally had the courage to do the drive by myself! I met Tara at Taylor's in the Ferry Building and we had a great lunch outside in the SUN! Lukas smiled and cooed at the people sitting next to us. I was so proud! Afterward we took these photos in front of the Bay Bridge. Later that afternoon we had some quality time with Pappa Choo Choo and Grande in Lafayette. Grande seemed pretty happy to come home from work to her grandson. Lukas had a great time too - he was so tired he slept on the whole trip home!

Bear Valley with the Meditz Family
The Shasky family very generously allowed us to use their cabin in Big Trees near Bear Valley this past weekend. Cori and Michael came up with the idea to plan a snow weekend for the Meditz family in 2010 and somehow it worked out for everyone to be there. Joining us were the entire Meditz Family: Auntie Ann, Uncle Michael, Auntie Cori, Cousin Ethan, Cousin Sienna & Opa (Grandpa). On Saturday we had a yummy lunch in Murphy's at Alchemy followed by wine tasting at Frog's Tooth (they had some really yummy white wines!) The last time Andrew and I were in Murphy's I was pregnant with Lukas. We absolutely love it there (and could spend hours and hours looking at claw-foot tubs at the antique stores)!! Then we had a family dinner at the house followed by some time to chat. Michael was a little bit tired and fell asleep on the couch - having 2 babies is lots of work! And Jordi snuggled in with his new best friend, Ann. Cori, Michael, Ann, Ethan & Sienna made it outside for a little bit of sledding on Sunday. Highlight of the weekend: watching Sienna and Lukas laugh (Sienna) and smile (Lukas) at eachother. Other highlight: watching Jordi and Ethan run up and down the hallway (I think they are kindred spirits). I haven't seen Jordi that tired or happy for a very long time (:
